About Us
MARCHÉ D'INTÉRÊT GÉNÉRAL or M.I.G. is more than a store, it is a system. Conceived in Barcelona in 2025, it draws inspiration from the Marché d’Intérêt National (MIN) in France: vast hubs where suppliers source the highest quality produce in spaces that are as functional as they are flexible, infrastructures created in the General Interest, ensuring access to excellence. By day, a MIN is a marketplace; by night, it can be reimagined as a stage for cultural events, a place where commerce, community, and celebration coexist.
M.I.G. takes this spirit and translates it into fashion and culture. Our store is designed as a modulable space, one that can host retail and exhibitions during the week, then transform into a forum for talks, performances, or gatherings. It is not a fixed shop, but a living infrastructure for exchange.
M.I.G. was shaped by years of immersion in the Tokyo fashion landscape, where craftsmanship and care are inseparable from clothing. In contrast to the disposability of fast fashion, our ethos is that garments should live, age, and become part of one’s story.
Opening a store in 2025 is, for us, a cultural statement. In an era of algorithm-driven consumption, M.I.G. stands for permanence, for the preservation of human interaction, and for the vibrancy of city life. By rooting ourselves in Barcelona, we seek to protect the craft, beauty, and social bonds that make cities alive, offering a counterpoint to disposable fast fashion and the disembodied pull of digital commerce.
M.I.G. is conceived as an autonomous retail zone: a space where craftsmanship, culture, and community operate outside the dictates of fast fashion and global platforms, in the service of the general interest.
