Description
Baserange's Long Enso Mittens are a long style of mitten in black, with rib knit cuffs. They are knitted from 95% recycled cashmere and 5% wool. According to Baserange, its recycled cashmere comes from waste gathered from spinners, weavers and worn garments, which is graded by quality, fibre content and colour, then spun mechanically into new yarn. Baserange adds that these fibres arrive already dyed, so they are not dyed again: its sorters mix the scraps as the yarn is spun to build each colour.Baserange chooses recycled cashmere because, by its account, it lowers methane emissions from goats and the water pollution caused by washing cashmere, and needs less water, energy and dye than virgin cashmere. Baserange's recycled cashmere carries GRS and Oeko-Tex certification.Baserange notes that cashmere naturally resists stains, odours and creases, and suggests airing, steaming or brushing the mittens between wears instead of washing them often. When cleaning is needed, the brand recommends hand washing in cool water with an enzyme-free, pH-neutral detergent, without bleach or fabric softener, then drying flat, since cashmere can stretch when hung.
