Description
Baserange's Tope Shrug Small is a knitted shrug in black camel melange, finished with a turtleneck. The shrug is knitted from 95% recycled cashmere and 5% wool. This cashmere comes from waste that is picked by hand and graded by quality, colour and fibre mix, gathered from spinners, weavers and drop-off points for worn garments. Baserange's recycled cashmere carries GRS and Oeko-Tex certification.Baserange explains that the scraps arrive already coloured, so they are never dyed again: its sorters mix them as the yarn is spun mechanically to build each shade.According to Baserange, choosing recycled cashmere lowers the methane emitted by goats and the water pollution caused by washing cashmere. The brand adds that making it takes less water, energy and dye than producing new cashmere, and that it sends less fabric to landfill.Baserange notes that cashmere naturally resists stains, odours and creasing, so airing or brushing can replace frequent washing. It recommends a cool hand wash or a wool programme with an enzyme-free, pH-neutral detergent, then drying the shrug flat and storing it folded.
