Description
The shirt is cut straight and relaxed, with room through the armholes, a high stand collar and a single patch pocket at the chest. The colour is where the work is. The cloth is a high-density cotton linen parachute weave made on a wooden shuttle loom in Shizuoka, then taken to Amami-Ōshima and dyed by Kanai Kougei in a bath of tannin drawn from local Teichiki bark. The tannin is then set by immersion in iron-rich mud, and the cycle is repeated twenty-five times. Every shirt comes out slightly differently, and none of them stay the same.
