The Wool Melton Oversized Investigated Coat is cut past its own proportions and left in a cloth heavy enough to hold that decision. Melton is milled until the fibres felt into one another and the weave shuts, which gives a coat this size the density to hang rather than billow, and lets edges be cut without finishing them. Black in melton reads matte and absorbs light rather than returning it.
