Pien Studios

Pien Studios is an Amsterdam-based design studio founded in 2020 by Pien Barendregt, rooted in a deep love for making and a desire to experiment with rich, tactile materials and diverse techniques. What began as a small collection of hand-knitted accessories has evolved into a collaborative practice, a network of skilled artisans and knitters working across the Netherlands and Europe to bring each piece to life. The work is tactile first. Balaclavas in Italian mohair, silk and merino, soft against the skin. Stretch Scarves in lightweight microfibre, designed for fluid styling. Rectangle and Triangle Leather Scarves in smooth leather, clean geometric forms. Each piece approaches the accessory as an object worthy of attention: structured, considered, made to move through seasons. Belts conceived as both functional and sculptural. The Knot Belt in nappa leather with stainless steel detail, wrapping the body. The Leather Knot Belt as hybrid, belt and keychain at once. Bean Bags in supple cow and nappa leather, minimalist pouches for everyday carry. Homeware objects that earn their place. Coasters hand-constructed from wooden beads, Natural and Lacquer sets, the Larco Single Round, Reverse Tile, Lacquer Runner, each one a small sculpture for the tabletop. Square Pillow Covers with tassel detail and zip closure. Boiled Wool Hats in structured felt. The studio's approach is collaborative and slow. Rather than scaling production, Pien Studios works with trusted makers—knitters in Serbia, leather craftspeople in Italy, artisans across Europe, each contributing their skill. The result is a collection that reflects the hand and judgment of its makers at every level. No mass production. No trend cycles. Objects and accessories built to be lived with, to develop patina and memory through use. Softness and structure. Colour and form. Made in places where making still means something Together, they explore form and texture through a process that is both intuitive and considered. With a background in textile design, Pien approaches each piece with care and curiosity, allowing ideas to emerge through the act of making. The result is a series of objects that move beyond function, elegant, playful, and made to be lived with. Working from small ateliers, Pien Studios creates work with depth, intention, and an endearing character.
