Gerhard Richter: Eight Gray takes its title from the artist's commission for the Deutsche Guggenheim Berlin: a series of eight grey, mirrored panels that extends his long investigation of windows, mirrors, glass and the frame. The 128-page hardcover places the installation within the broader thread of Richter's Mirror series, glass projects, grey monochromes and related works, with more than fifty drawings and studies dating from 1965 onward. An essay by Richter scholar Benjamin H. D. Buchloh anchors the volume. The only publication dedicated to this segment of his practice.
