Description
Portal's Loam Fleece Jacket, here in Slate Black, is a fleece layer the brand describes as warming, designed for hiking in cool conditions. The fabric is Polartec's classic 200 fleece in a version with recycled content: 87% recycled polyester and 13% polyester. Fleece is a knitted polyester fabric brushed to raise a soft pile that traps warm air. According to Portal, the fleece also uses Shed Less technology, which releases 85% fewer fibres in the wash than a standard fleece. The jacket has two zipped hand pockets and a zipped chest pocket. A two-way zip, which opens from either end, lets the wearer vary breathability, according to the brand. The jacket is ergonomically panelled, which Portal says gives freedom of movement, and a cinch at the hem adjusts the fit. The stand collar and the cuffs are finished with binding, a strip of fabric folded over the edge, which Portal adds for comfort next to the skin. The jacket is cut to sit as a middle layer, worn between a base piece and an outer shell, leaving room to move, according to Portal. In size M, it weighs 480 grams, according to Portal.
